Atherton was called Fair Oaks until 1923. Today, the town’s neighborhoods are still full of wooded with oaks, redwoods, cedars, pines, and ornamental trees. Encinal, Las Lomitas, and Laurel are elementary schools, Selby Lane is both an elementary and a middle school and Menlo-Atherton is a high school.
